Veterinary Appointment Escort
If your pet has an important veterinary appointment and you’re unable to attend, Eden Pet Care can help!
With our team’s experience working in veterinary medicine (and the owner’s experience as a veterinary hospital manager), we can help make the process as smooth and successful as possible. Before the appointment, we’ll guide you through the steps that need to take place in advance in order for your pet to be seen in these circumstances. During the appointment, we can facilitate communication between you and the veterinarian, take notes, and bring home any prescribed medications and paperwork.
Please note: You will need to remain available by phone throughout the appointment, consult with your veterinarian in advance on how to complete any expected or unexpected paperwork, and be prepared to make payment to your veterinarian over the phone. Please see the bottom of this page for important service instructions and policies.

A few important policies
You must remain available by phone for the entire appointment process to communicate with us and the veterinary team.
Your veterinarian be notified at the time of scheduling an appointment and the morning of the appointment that you will not be present for this appointment and that Eden Pet Care will attend on your behalf.
Eden Pet Care cannot sign any paperwork, medical authorizations, liability waivers, or cost estimates on your behalf. It is your responsibility to ensure your veterinarian is aware of this policy and to make arrangements with them to complete any *expected* paperwork ahead of time or electronically, and to obtain their approval for the ability to complete any *unexpected* paperwork electronically or verbally as required by the veterinarian.
If an appointment lasts longer than anticipated, we will handle this on a case-by-case basis and do our best to stay as long as we can. However, we cannot guarantee availability beyond the reserved 2 hours and may need to coordinate a pet drop-off and pick-up plan with your veterinarian. Additional time beyond two hours of total service time (including drive time) will be charged at $1/minute. Veterinary practices may be able to accommodate any time constraints if they are simply made aware of the situation in advance.
See Pet Transport page for important policy information.

Our deepest sympathies to you if you’re facing the difficult decision to say goodbye to your pet. If you’re unable to be present for this part of the goodbye process, we can be there for you.
From our own personal and professional experience with this process, we will advocate for your pet’s comfort and remain with them through the very end. We can also bring an extra-special treat (perhaps some chicken nuggets!) so that their final moments can include something they truly enjoy.
If you need assistance arranging the appointment, we are happy to discuss the option as part of our Pet Concierge services.
A few important policies
-
Before scheduling this service, you will need to confirm whether your veterinarian is willing to proceed with euthanasia without first requiring a quality-of-life consultation with you. Depending on your pet’s health status, this may be required especially if your pet has not been seen by this veterinarian. If they do agree that euthanasia can be scheduled, the veterinarian performing the service must also be made aware that you will not be present and approve Eden Pet Care’s involvement.
-
Any required paperwork or consent forms must be completed by the pet owner in the manner required by the veterinarian. Eden Pet Care will not be able to sign any paperwork on your behalf. If you are unable to sign physical or electronic formats of this paperwork, please ask your veterinarian whether they can accept another form of authorization.
-
Once the appointment is scheduled, we will confirm the appointment with your veterinarian.

These steps are especially important for an end-of-life appointment. We want to do everything possible to prevent delays, unexpected calls, or the veterinarian being unable to proceed after you have already said goodbye to your pet.
